The other day, a friend told me she couldn’t afford watching Madonna live as there were only £175 tickets left for sale. Well, never mind Madonna. Her shocking concerts are legendary indeed. But who needs to watch a 57 years old women strip tease when you can watch five eccentric banjo led alternative country ladies light up a basement with their upbeat captivating music, charismatic looks and charming humour for a mere fiver?
Dana Immanuel and the Stolen Band are one of these rare acts who are even better live than recorded. They’re also one of those rare women who can make Madonna blush with their witty humour, their talent at playing all sorts of instruments and their punch line lyrics. They don’t need big light effects, fifty backing dancers, fireworks and cross hanging. Just equipped with their instrument, their eccentric looks and their contagious joie de vivre, they bewitched the audience with a memorable show. This is a band that could make you want to be in a band again, just for the fun of it.
